Daihoji Temple

The Satake family, descendants of Minamoto Yoshimitsu, reportedly lived here for generations. Daihoji, a Nichiren Buddhist temple, was founded in 1444 by Nisshutsu at the site of Tafukuji Temple which was built by Satake. Its sanctuary houses its principal image of Buddha called Sanpo Soshi, statues of Nichiren, Nisshutsu, and Minamoto Yoshimitsu, and a statue of Kishibojin - the goddess of children - which enjoyed the faith of Nichiren believers.
