Eishoji Temple

This is the only nunnery in Kamakura. It was founded in 1636 by Okatsu-no-tubone (Eishoin), who was Tokugawa Ieyasus mistress and daughter of Ota Yasusuke, at the site where Ota DokanŽÕs residence once stood. Nuns of the Mito family line traditionally served as its chief priests.
