Ennoji Temple
Ennoji was originally situated near the Yuigahama coast, called Arai-enmado, but was rebuilt at the present location after it was destroyed by an earthquake and tsunami in 1703. This temple is dedicated to the worship of ten kings called Jyuo, which spread during the Kamakura era. This temple belongs to the Kenchoji faction of the Rinzai Buddhist sect. Kamakura Ksitigarbha No.8 / 24.
Tourist attractions include: A wooden statue of a seated Enma-o, one of the ten kings of hell. This realistic figure, who glares fiercely at the wicked, is designated as an important national cultural property. Statues of Shoko-o and Gusyojin can be seen in the Kamakura Kokuhokan museum.
