Hakusanjinja Shrine

This shrine is a tutelary shrine guarding the Imaizumi area who makes Kikurihimenomikoto an enshrined deity. It was reportedly built by Minamoto Yoritomo, founder of the Kamakura government, and houses a standing statue of Bishamon, or the god of war statue said to have been given by Kurama-dera in the middle of going up to Kyoto. In front of the shrine is a sacred twisted straw rope called Shimenawa which imitated large centipede, which is believed to be the guardian deity living here.
