Hongakuji Temple

This temple was constructed in 1436 at the command of Ashikaga Mochiuji as a donation to Ichijo Nisshutsu. It belongs to the Nichiren Buddhist sect.The temple is also known as Niccho-sama after its second chief priest Niccho Shonin.


ü There is a sanctuary called Ebisudo where Ebisu - the god of fishermen and one of the seven gods of good luck - is enshrined, and a grave of Okazaki Goro Masamune.
