Hokaiji Temple, also known as Hagidera

This temple was constructed on the remains of the mansion of the Hojo regency in 1335 by Ashikaga Takauji at the command of Godaigo Emperor to pray for the repose of the soul of Hojo Takatoki. It is famous for the splendid view of white bush clovers in its grounds in the fall. This temple belongs to the Tendai Buddhist sect. Kamakura Goddess of Mercy No.2 / 33. Kamakura Ksitigarbha No.1 / 24.


Tourist attractions include a wooden statue of a seated Jizo Bosatsu, or the guardian deity for children, which is designated as an important national cultural property.
