Jyomyoji Temple
Ranked fifth among Kamakura's famous five temples, it was founded in 1188 by Taiko Gyoyu under the sponsorship of Ashikaga Yoshikane. The massive roof over its main sanctuary creates a dignified atmosphere. This temple belongs to the Kenchoji faction of the Rinzai Buddhist sect.
Tourist attractions: Houkyoin-to - a grave tower where Ashikaga Sadauji is buried. It is designated as a municipal cultural asset. Kisenan - a tea ceremony (fee charged) room with a fine view of a moss garden. Kaizando - a sanctuary.
