Godaido Myo-o-in Temple

This temple was founded in 1235 by Fujiwara Yoritsune, the fourth Shogun of the Kamakura government. Its sanctuary houses a statue of Godai Myo-o, which was believed to protect the "demon's gate," an unlucky quarter of the Shogun residence. The wooden statue is designated as a municipal cultural asset. This temple belongs to the Mimuro faction of the Shingon Buddhist sect. Kamakura Goddess of Mercy No.8 / 33.
