Ryuhoji Temple

Ryuhoji, a Soto Buddhist temple, was founded by Taijo Souei under the sponsorship of Tamanawa Castle's second lord Hojo Tunashige, and was transferred in 1575 to its present site by the fourth lord Hojo Ujikatsu. The temple name was built as "Ryuhoji" by the posthumous Buddhist name of Ujishige. It has been the family (Hojo Tunashige, Hojo Ujishige, Hojo Ujikatu) temple of the Hojo's who inherited the lordship of Tamanawa Castle, and houses their memorial tablets. From temple gate, it can look at the Suwadan former site of Tamanawajo rightward.
