Shomyoji Temple
This temple which deifies Amida-sanzon, originally called Ensoji, served as the intendancy for Fudo-do Temple reportedly founded by Kobo-daishi, founder of the Shingon sect of Buddhism. The present sanctuary was reconstructed during the Edo period by Chokuyo Rennyuu. You can hear the sounds of stream and waterfalls (waterfalls of male and female) on the premises in a quiet atmosphere surrounded by trees. You will also find stone Buddhist images here and there, and a renovated Fudo-do sanctuary on the top a flight of stone steps.
Tourist attractions include Hanadaka - long nose - Jizo (6Jizo), Dainichi-Nyorai, 36 Douji.
